The pilgrim route "Helgonleden" is one of the Saint Olav routes across the Scandinavian peninsula. Starting from the Swedish east coast you reach after approximately 600 kilometers the Norwegian west coast and the shrine of Saint Olav in Trondheim.

The route is signposted from the area north of Gävle, but we hope to have it signposted from the  Cathedral of Uppsala one day. Waiting for that we have prepared digital maps from Uppsala up to the north west part of Sweden, Ljungdalen, from there going  to the Cathedral in Trondheim. Also a connecting route is marked from the coast north of Stockholm (Grisslehamn with ferries to and from Åland and Finland)

The route begins in Uppsala (city of Saint Erik) and northt east of Stockholm, Finsta or Upplands Väsby (which both claim to be the birthplace of Saint Birgitta of Sweden). It leads to the province of Hälsingland and the place where Saint Staffan, apostle of this province, is supposed to have been killed. The route connects to the route "Jämt-Norgevägen" which leads to Trondheim, city of Saint Olav. Read more on www.pilgrimstid.nu - Fotos from Helgonleden

The Helgonleden route can also be walked in the opposite direction, from Trondheim to Uppsala! From Uppsala the route Ingegerdsleden leads you to Stockholm, from where there are possible routes to Vadstena, Lund, and all the way to Saintago de Compostela, Rome and Jerusalem!
